Our Valentine Weekend: Part I - Childress, Texas Family Photographer

Here is a look at how we spent this year's Valentine weekend......

We took off work at noon on Friday, let Bella take a quick nap, got Nick out of school a little early and headed to Lubbock.  We got tickets to see Disney's Live Rockin' Road Show.  The show was a little cheesy, but it was good and Bella loved seeing her favorite Disney characters in person.  (Nick probably wouldn't admit it, but I think he enjoyed it, too!)  We bought the cheap seats and ended up sitting in the very back, very top row.  We still could see the play pretty well and were glad we didn't spend any more money than we did.  I took my camera along and decided to try out some of my new knowledge of shooting in manual mode in the dark auditorium.  Nick also took some of them.  To be at the very top, very back row, I think we got some pretty good shots!

The best part of the trip was getting to see Matraca!  We hadn't seen her in almost a month.  Matraca and the other AIMers had just returned from a trip to Mexico City, so we were ready to get our Matraca fix!

Right before the show started.

Bella's reaction when the show first started.

Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck decided to take a road trip to find some friends to perform in their talent show.

They ran in to Tigger who showed them his talent in bouncing.  Bella kept yelling "Where's Pooh?"  I guess Pooh didn't have enough talent to be in the show!

Jessie and Woody. We LOVE Toy Story!  Nick watches used to watch Toy Story 1 and 2 over and over and now Bella is watching and loving them, too.  It is really neat that the movies that were popular when Nick was little are coming back.  Have you heard about Toy Story 3 coming to theaters in June?!?  We can't wait!!!

When Jessie, Woody and Buzz Lightyear left the stage, Bella kept yelling at them to come back!

The "free" Mickey ears that came with our $10 bag of cotton candy!  We had to have some kind of snack during intermission!
Bella loved the cotton candy!

The second half was the talent show.

The green army men from Toy Story.

The green martians from Toy Story. Oh, and of course, Buzz Lightyear.  "To infinity and beyond!"

The finale, complete with confetti.

A lot of the kids sitting around us had these funny looking flashlights that spun around.  Bella kept trying to take the flashlights from the kids in front of us, so Nick volunteered to go get one for Bella.  I gave Nick $20 expecting to have change back.  Turns out, those nifty flashlights were $20!!  Expensive souvenirs, but a fun experience.  When I took this picture, Bella was spinning the light and it was hitting her in the face.  It looks like she is so unhappy!  Cinderella was also in the show, but I missed getting her picture.  I also ran into a couple of high school friends that I hadn't seen in a long time.  It was great getting to see them!  It's a small world afterall!
